Sarmady expands mobile

Growing the WEB and WAP internet reach is one of Sarmady's objectives in order to expand the current 10 million users. Adding to the five new affiliated web-sites in 2010, Sarmady recently launched mujaz.me, the first fully-customizable Arabic-language news website. It is available on web and it also has a special version for mobile-internet users. Read all about this.

Sarmady expands mobileThe SMS Hotline, a product launched by Sarmady in September 2010 and created for companies advertising in the Egyptian market, offers the opportunity for companies to interact directly with their clients through short messages. Find out how it works.

 

Digital Media and Advertising Events in 2010

Sarmady participated at four significant events related to digital media and advertising. On March 25th & 26th, Sarmady had the pleasure of attending the first international conference for the Arab web industry, ArabNet. Read more.

"The Digital Boom" in October 2010 gathered digital media experts and online advertisers, showcasing best practices and information about Internet usage and digital marketing in Egypt. Read all about it here.

Folowing that were a series of two events in October and November: "WEB, the local angle", where major players from online service providers, platform builders and leading multinationals shared their thoughts on upcoming technologies and opportunities in the web space; and "Mobile, What’s Next?", dedicated to mobile business, which gathered Egyptian entrepreneurs and professionals, including Naguib Sawiris.

Sarmady Bags 7 Awards at Egypt’s Webbys in June

During the Egypt Web Academy Awards 2010, Sarmady won 7 awards for their websites. The outstanding website ChipsyEgypt.com received 3 awards among which was the Diamond Award for the "Best Website in Egypt in 2010", "Best Programming of a Website" and "Best Trade & Retail Website". Chipsy - "Do Us a Flavor"

Campaign Goals

  • Create a dialogue between Chipsy and its target audience using digital media
  • Use consumers’ creative ideas to develop a new flavor for Chipsy
  • Strengthen Chipsy's presence in digital media

Campaign Duration

  • Apr 1st - July 11th, 2010

Tactics

  • Chipsy invited consumers to submit their ideas for a new Chipsy flavor by participating to the Do Us a Flavor campaign.
  • They could also play the online game Design Your Pack in order to create a design for the new Chipsy pack illustrating the chosen flavor.
  • The campaign had three stages:
    1. Choosing the New Chipsy Flavor
    2. Celebrities contributing in choosing the New Chipsy Flavor
    3. Announcing the New Flavor "SHRIMPS"
  • Consumers were directed to submit ideas through two channels: WEB and Mobile
    • WEB - Through an online community
    • Mobile - Through Short Code SMS
  • Online campaign
  • SMS campaign
    • Short code 4432 to which participants can send their suggestions for the flavors through SMS.
